Phil Grady, CEO of Castlight Financial, has been named a finalist in EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 for Scotland in the Disruptor category.
Inspiration for a Safer Financial World
When asked for the inspiration behind Castlight Financial, Phil automatically pointed to the team of analysts, developers and system experts that have created the Affordability Passport and CaaS. Phil explained;
“It just happens to be my name on the list for Entrepreneur of the Year. The truth is our success to date stems from the people I share an office with. Each and everyone of Castlight’s 25 team members are entrepreneurial and that extends to our partners. Our place in the ‘Disruption’ category for this award has come about because all the people who work here embrace the entrepreneurial spirit.”
Castlight Financial have developed the world’s most powerful affordability platform that helps categorise consumers’ bank transactional data to ensure better risk pricing in consumer finance.
Some of Scotland’s best known business figures are former EY Entrepreneur of the Year winners, including: Sir Brian Souter, who founded transport company Stagecoach; Martin Gilbert of, then, Aberdeen Asset Management; and serial entrepreneur Alasdair Locke who was the inaugural overall Scotland winner in 1999.
This year’s finalists will be interviewed by an independent panel of judges, and the selected winners from the regions will progress to the UK finals in November, where the ‘EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 UK overall winner’ will be announced.
Phil is nominated in the Disruptor category alongside Martin McDonnel, founder of Soluis Group; and David Venables, CEO of Synpromics.
